Tanara is primarily self-taught. Her art education continues through viewing images and color in nature and studying the work of artists who inspire her. Her admiration for horses and bison is reflected in her work, alongside a continued interest in the West as it was and as it continues to evolve.
Tanara has honed in on the use of palette knife and simple brushstrokes that intuitively bring forth the soul and emotion of her subjects. She prepares the canvas with an idea in mind, and whether through texture, color, or open white space, the image freely emerges — often with a surprising story to tell. Her subjects are simple, her message complex.
