capturing the power and awe of nature

Contemporary Western Art

I never had any formal art training, and living on a ranch at the base of the Highwood Mountains does not provide an art school, but it does provide a daily training for viewing wonderful color in a vast setting. So, my education began with viewing and studying images from nature and from the artists I admire. Studying paintings created by artists who inspire me gave, and continues to give, an understanding of the use of shape, space, and line. I learned how to really see an image. Everyone learns from someone else. We are all connected with the ability to fuel the potential of others. The student; however, is not lost in the process. There is the "me" factor that breaks through, and that is what makes my art successful for me. This was and is my education process.
